Forrest Gump What are your expectations of the film? I have heard of this film but have never seen it, I expect it to be a comedy because Tom Hanks plays the main character of the film and he seems to be in a lot of comedy films. I also presume there will be an element of romance because there is a focus on a girl on the back cover. I think this film has an original concept because I don’t know what plot to expect. Narrative turning points – at what points does the plot change? I think the plot changes when Bubba, (Forrest’s best friend in Vietnam) is shot because the tone of the film changes, as an audience it’s the first time we see Forrest deal with a traumatic, emotional situation and how he combats this loss. Before his death, Bubba asks Forrest to be his first mate in the shrimping business and split the profits. The History Boys Mise en scène Costume - This image suggests that these boys are of school age (in uniform), and their uniform is much smarter than typical state school uniform, suggesting they go to a private or grammar school. The uniform also implies they are likely English. Setting - The setting in the background is a large, perhaps old, Victorian style building which presumably is a school. This indicates the film is set prior to the 2000s.  Lighting - The lighting is not very important to this scene, the scene is well lit to clearly see the characters expressions but does create any specific type of atmosphere or mood.
